The Kid Stays in the Pixar

Those of you who delighted to the Academy Award-nominated short Presto that accompanied Disney/Pixar's WALL-E last summer will get a chance to find out how hard it was to create next week, in person.

Doug Sweetland, Presto's writer and director, will present a lecture at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts' Dumke Auditorium next Tuesday, March 31 at 7 p.m. titled "How 11 Years of Animating Isn't Necessarily Story Training." A Pixar animator since 1994, Sweetland worked on features from Toy Story to Cars, but was starting from scratch when he decided to create his own short. We all have benefitted from Pixar's commitment to storytelling excellence over the past 15 years; now learn how one the company's own experienced an even more direct benefit.
