Groups calling themselves Nuclear ReACTION and Visual Cacophony are hosting "The People's Bribe" at the Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday, March 10, at 5 p.m.
"We send frantic emails to our representatives," their press release reads. "We call night and day. We come to the Capitol to speak to them in person (even submitting our bodies to neckties, heels, nylons, in the hope that if we don't look like tree-huggers, students, or stay-at-home moms, they might not ignore us). But somehow they're not hearing it."
The group is planning to leave dollar bills and loose change in a pile in the middle of the Capitol Rotunda, asking elected officials to accept their bribes and begin voting in accordance with the will of the people.
They say even if the cash is removed, the Legislature can't legally throw it away (unlike your letters, faxes, e-mails and text messages). For more information, contact Kate Savage at 435-619-4995.
My two cents? Money is good--but unless you have a lot of it (and who does these days?)--bribe them with your vote.
