A woman as a successful comedian? A woman as a founder of her own business? A woman as a U.S. Army general? Such notions were ridiculous not more than a couple of generations ago—and a new book tells the stories of the groundbreaking women who changed the opportunities for so many who came after them.

In Women of True Grit, Edie Hand and Tina Savas collect the firsthand accounts of 38 pioneering women who describe the prejudice and other obstacles they faced on the way to successful careers. They include Utah natives like Cactus & Tropicals founder Lorraine Miller, who faced the dual challenges of her gender and her Jewish background, and Morris Air founder June M. Morris, who decided to embrace the different perspective on business a woman could provide. Miller and Morris will join co-author Savas to discuss their experiences becoming the giants on whose shoulders others could stand.
