RPM: Vinyl Sets at The Hotel
If you had to assemble an all-star team of vinyl experts to attack CDJ spinners in a future apocalyptic scenario, battling for the future of music and using 45s, you’d find the following local DJs: Finale, Street Jesus, Rebel, Sayo, Juggy, Chaseone2, and Justin Godina. If you wanted to watch their battle-training sessions, you’d head over to The Hotel (155 W. 200 South) on the first Monday of every month, when the guys work out on everything from soul all the way to funk and even “weird shit. Anything on 45s.”

The Woodshed: More Than Just Jam
As we mentioned recently, The Woodshed (60 E. 800 South) has initiated a new Blues Jam every Wednesday night, but its other featured attractions are exciting, as well. It seems to have hit its stride as a neighborhood bar, welcoming all comers, stripes and kinds. Sunday and Tuesday it’s karaoke, and Thursday features reggae.

Devil’s Daughter: Orange You Glad We Didn’t Say Orange
It used to be called Club Orange, but that has gone along the wayside and Devil’s Daughter (533 S. 500 West) is the new home to the most westerly of the downtown clubs. Fortunately, the color of the building is the same, making it stand out in the industrial district where it resides. It now offers a Thursday alternative to other downtown bars with its own Twilight afterparties, featuring past artists like Street Jesus.
