Red Sea Cafe is an Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurant in Sugar House owned by Eritrea native Rozina Bahlibi. Located around the corner from Guthrie Bicycles, Red Sea is a quiet, comfortable place to enjoy exotic African flavors. Meat eaters will love the kelwa, gored gored and kelwa derho, cubed chicken breast sauteed with clarified butter and spices and served with a dollop of yogurt. Ethiopian cuisine is very vegetarian friendly, which you’ll discover in dishes like the vegetarian combo, which features okra, zucchini, a veggie version of alisha (usually this stew is made with beef) and slow-cooked curry made with potatoes and carrots.
