The flavors at Tandoor are enticing and the service is friendly. Along with the typical curries, masalas, biryanis and kormas (the tender lamb korma is outstanding), Tandoor also offers items rarely seen in Utah’s Indian restaurants: Hyderabad bagara baigan, for example. That’s baby eggplant stuffed with a peanut and sesame-seed paste, cooked with tamarind and onions, and served with a scintillating red curry. Another special at Tandoor is dosa, and the tandoor oven-baked breads will leave a smile on your face, from the basic nicely-charred naan to paratha methi, multilayered whole-wheat bread with dried fenugreek. For dessert, order the gulab jamoon: golfball-size fried wheat-and-milk nuggets macerated in sugar syrup.
