Summerhay's Halibut & Chips

4870 S. Highland Dr, Holladay, 84117
801-424-9000
For more than eight years, Summerhay's Halibut & Chips has been serving award-winning fish and chips using only the freshest Alaskan halibut. But, man cannot live on fish and chips alone, so Summerhay's also serves sandwiches, soups and salads. And, not all the seafood is fried. You can also order grilled salmon and halibut, along with crab cakes, seafood Louis salad, grilled chicken, fish tacos, burgers, a grilled lobster sandwich and more. Be sure to try the sweet yam fries.

Monday, March 15, 2010, will be significant for the worst meal I have eaten since my Navy days! Our party of 3 ordered the "signature" Halibut and Chips platters. Also ordered ice tea, large. When we went to the ice tea container, it was empty. The cashier/waitress told us she would make some more. The halibut was overcooked and didn't taste anything like halibut. The cole slaw had an icky green topping on it that made it appear unedible. Half way through our meal, I asked the cashier/waitress about the tea and she said it was almost ready. We finished our meal and I called her over and asked that she refund our money for the tea. She said she told us earlier that she was bringing it. I said, "we're done with our meal." She checked with the "boss"/"cook" who said the ice tea was part of the meal and couldn't be refunded, even though my receipt shows they charged us extra for the large ice tea. I didn't pursue it further and told her I would post a review about the food and service. She could have cared less! I'll chalk up the $35.00 bill to experience but wanted to let readers know of the terrible experience. They should demolish that place like they did with the Cottonwood Mall across the street!

I am distrubed by this review, this one bad experience should not scare others away from trying Summerhays amazing food! The seven years I have been going to Neils/Summerhays I have never had anything but amazing seafood food and service. Those two things have kept us coming back again and again!
