This venerable eatery is open for Saturday lunch and Sunday brunch in summer and fall, with live music and an eclectic menu. Alta Lodge is surrounded by mountains, but the cuisine is eclectic and interesting—not your typical “lodge fare.” Entrees range from a goat-cheese quesadilla and Thai chicken salad to burgers, burritos, pulled-pork sandwich and the delicious ham & smoked Gouda sandwich. At Alta Lodge, there’s something for every particular taste, which is perhaps why this classic location was one of William F. Buckley Jr.’s favorites.
