Ichiban Sushi has served as one of Salt Lake City’s local favorites for sushi and Japanese cuisine for over 20 years, no doubt coming close to the translation of the name as “first.” The restaurant itself is unique, as it’s located in a 19th-century church, complete with the original choir loft converted into tatami rooms. Start out with a mussel shooter or Kobe beef tataki before diving into nigiri, sashimi and sushi. The varieties of sushi rolls is extensive, but popular favorites include the surf & turf roll, pink power, X96 roll and rainbow. Happy hour at Ichiban goes on until closing on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Great sushi place. A little on the expensive side, but damn good food. Situated in what looks to be an old church. Huge variety of rolls that are all very well prepared. Check it out..it really is worth a try.
