Steve Nielsen started mixing, freezing, and scooping his frozen custard in Salt Lake City in 1981. Nielsen's Frozen Custard was quickly recognized as a quality product, and a few months after opening, was dubbed "the smoothest stuff around" by the annual Critics Choice Award.
