If you are having guests visit from out of town, you have to take them to La Caille, a stunning jewel of a restaurant tucked into the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, complete with beautiful grounds to wander. French for “quail,” La Caille features French cuisine in an exquisitely created dining atmosphere. Begin your meal with escargots Bourguignons, Alaskan king crab cakes, lobster bisque or baked onion soup. For the main course, partake of roasted venison loin with a Cabernet Sauvignon glace, ahi tuna chinois prepared rare and served with wasabi and nori, rack of New Zealand lamb with mint jelly, scallops with curry sauce, or rib-eye steak served with Scotch peppercorn sauce. For dessert, finish up with creme brulee, bananas foster flambéd with Bacardi silver rum sauce, or chocolate Chantilly cake served with fresh whipped cream. Sunday evenings feature a special Basque dinner.
