On the one hand, you love nothing better than dressing up in a really good costume; on the other, you’re passionate about live classical music. If that’s the case, then this is the greatest day of the year, because your two worlds will collide at this 19th annual Halloween High- Jinks event.

The evening begins with a costume contest between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. Finalists will be chosen in adult, child and group (anywhere from 2-20 people) categories to appear on stage during the concert where the audience will determine the winners.

The concert begins at 7 p.m., with associate conductor David Cho leading the symphony through a program that includes pieces appropriate to the spooky season: Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King”, “Danse Macabre” by Saint-Saens and “Symphonie Fantastique” by Berlioz, which is also known as “A Witches’ Sabbath.” The evening will finish with Cooper’s “Rumpelstiltzkin,” narrated by Mark Gollaher.

Grab your costume—and get ready for violins.
