Uinta Lugano
Greg Neville and Lugano
restaurant will host the ninth-annual Uinta Beer Dinner Nov. 4,
featuring a six-course menu paired with Uinta Brewing Company beers.
The menu includes dishes such as duck confit braised in Uinta Cutthroat
Pale Ale, which Neville describes as “a much healthier and delicious
process than the traditional way of cooking the duck in its own fat.”
Other beer-inspired selections include Pilsner-glazed sea scallops and
steamed Hefeweizen mussels. The cost for the dinner is $45 per person,
with an optional beer pairing of $18 and an Italian wine pairing, also
optional, for $39. For reservations, phone 801-412-9994.
Utah Food Bank @ Fratelli
Fratelli Ristorante in Sandy will host its third-annual Fratelli Fights Hunger event on Sunday, Nov. 1, featuring a seven-course dinner to benefit the Utah Food Bank, as the restaurant kicks-off its annual holiday food drive. The dinner will take place at Fratelli Ristorante from 6-10 p.m. and costs $40 per person, with wine pairings available at an additional cost. For reservations, phone 801-495-4550.
Hires @ 50
Hires Big H celebrates 50 years of making burgers and root beer in Utah this month. The original Hires Big H was opened by Don Hale in 1959 at 425 S. 700 East. I mention this not because I’m a big fan of Hires, but to give a shout out to Radio From Hell’s (X96) Gina Barberi, who was dissed in the Hires anniversary coverage by the local dailies, which name-checked celebrity customers such as Robert Redford, John Stockton, Jay Leno, Roma Downey, et al, but failed to note that Barberi is a very regular Hires customer and devotee. Radio From Hell’s Bill and Kerry? Not so much.
More Iguana
Good news for Red Iguana customers who tire of the long lines, especially on weekends. Word has it that a second Red Iguana location is in the works, to be located 866 W. South Temple.
