I think UTA is asking for an outrageous amount of money for a one-way ride on Paratransit. I get $450 per month from Social Security. My rent is $318. In addition, I pay bills, medical bills and have to buy groceries, leaving me with nothing at the end of the month. If my father didn’t pay for my $84 per month Paratransit pass, I would be trapped without a way to get to school and my appointments.
If the majority of people with disabilities receive $450 to $700 per month in Social Security and have to pay rent, bills and medical bills, and then come up with the money either for a monthly Paratransit pass or the one-way fare, it could leave those people stranded on the street or in their homes.
I personally think we are already paying enough.
