Throughout the month of April, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) will be hosting The Smithson Effect exhibit. This exhibit includes twenty-three prominent, international contemporary artists. While each artist has taken on their own interpretation of contemporary art, all twenty-three artists share an admiration for legendary artist Robert Smithson.
On April 2nd at 2 p.m. at the UMFA, come listen to the artists participating in The Smithson Effect as they engage in a panel discussion. Multimedia artists Sam Durant and Melanie Smith are a few of the artists that will be making small talks.
The next UMFA Smithson event will be on April 13th at 6 p.m. Join Craig Dworkin, a Professor of English at the University of Utah, as he explores Smithson’s impact on writers.
The last UMFA Smithson event will be on April 27th at 7 p.m. Two screenings, Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty and James Benning’s Casting a Glance, will be playing in the UMFA Auditorium.
Whether you plan to attend one or all of these great events at the UMFA, make sure to visit The Smithson Effect and enjoy partaking in a magnificent, multimedia exhibit. For more information, visit http://umfa.utah.edu.
