Some people—we don’t have to name names—choose to beat testicular cancer and then courageously and, some would say heroically, go on to win the prestigious Tour de France a record seven consecutive times. Other, perhaps more realistic people, choose to instead dress up in costume and ride around to various drinking holes in order to help local charities in the increasingly popular Tour de Brewtah.
The aim of this particular tour, besides cruising around downtown enjoying locally crafted micro beers, is to promote cycling while raising money for nonprofits such as Splore, Utah Clean Energy and Cottonwood Canyons Foundation. This year’s event is a choose-your-own-adventure, where you receive a map upon registration and the Live Green SLC! Festival at Library Square is noted as a final gathering spot (see p. 21). Similar to last year’s inaugural ride, participants are encouraged to form a team with a theme and dress accordingly.
