Bill Zierle serves fish across the street from Pioneer Park on 300 South. He thinks the park’s reputation is undeserved.
I have no trouble whatsoever with anything that happens in Pioneer Park. I’ve been here a year now. One time there was, like, one drunken guy that looked at my coconut, picked it up and threw it on the ground. Otherwise, nothing. The police, if there is a problem, they have it completely under control, because I never see any of it. I think more people should just go into the park and play and skate around there. Because if there is some bad element in there, what are we going to do? Give up this beautiful park? Give up this beautiful neighborhood? Just, “Oh, I don’t go there?” No.
