A Germany theorist from the Frankfurt School once said that art must be original or it is not art. If it succeeds in being art, then it gives the viewer a new experience. That experience can illustrate a new way to look at the world, which in turn can shift perceptions. City Weekly asked Matt Ford who works for the World Bank, what he thinks about these views of art:



I think art must be transformative to have any impact. If you see the same image rendered in the same way 1,000 times, there is nothing transformative about it. For me, art has to either be purely beautiful, or it has to jolt my static mindset, to really be worthy.
