The Red Door

Downtown club celebrates 10

Ten years ago, Cuba Gooding Jr. ruined his career by starring in the film Snow Dogs, the Winter Olympics were held in Salt Lake City and, most importantly, The Red Door (57 W. 200 South) opened its … door. Owner Louise Hannig celebrated this important decade milestone by throwing one hell of an anniversary soiree Oct. 20. Socialites were dressed in “period costume” (or what I call “churchin’ clothes”), and some serious toe tapping was provided by the Joshua Payne Orchestra and Mr. Jesse Walker. But one shouldn’t wait 10 years to stop by this swanky downtown joint. Every Friday night, DJ Ria does a smooth down-tempo set complete with psychedelic wall projections, and there’s always live jazz music every Saturday. While you’re there, sip on a Cocaine Lady or a spicy jalapeño-infused Wrath martini.
