nnDid you break any rules as a missionary?
nnWhen I beat up the mission president’s son, I was sure I would be sent home. While in Detroit, he made comments like, “Don’t you feel at home with all these sirens?” or “I bet sitting in the back seat is nothing new for you,” because I’m Polynesian. All of us hated this kid, so the district leader pooled all the missionaries’ saving funds and bet me to beat the kid up. While at the mission president’s house, I asked his son to step outside … and threw the first punch. That day, I wasn’t a missionary, and kept pounding him. As the mission president tried to stop me, I called him out, too. I was in a lot of trouble, but it all worked out. The mission president and his son apologized, and I was promoted to zone leader.
