nnWhat was the toughest part about being a female missionary?
nnI grew up frustrated by the way the church is organized, namely its patriarchal structure. The mission was a huge turning point. It allowed me the space to focus on my faith and realize that I don’t need to prove anything to God. The hardest part was not listening to music. Once, in San Pedro, a car drove by blasting “Black Magic Woman.” I almost started to cry.
