Now, more than 60 years after her death, Anne Frank continues to provide inspiration and a reminder that each of the 6 million victims of the Holocaust was an individual with hopes and dreams.
Pioneer Theatre Company’s co-production with Indiana Repertory Theatre uses Wendy Kesselman’s new adaptation, but still tells the familiar story of how a German-born Jew, Anne, and her family lived for two years hidden in an attic in Amsterdam, trying to avoid detection by the occupying Nazis. The cast combines Midwest talent with local favorites for a tense and heartbreakingly human story. In conjunction with the production, PTC’s Loge Gallery shows Testament to Topaz, featuring art works produced by Japanese-Americans who were enrolled in art classes during the time they were prisoners at Utah’s World War II-era Topaz Internment Camp.
