Chocolate is the ultimate feel-good food, an aphrodisiac loaded with healthy antioxidants and essential minerals. It’s also it’s the quintessential gift for Valentines Day, and while overprocessed, sickly sweet Hershey’s chocolate may have done the trick in the past, you’re much more sophisticated than that now. So, treat your sweetheart to something special this year—like a treat from The Chocolate Conspiracy.

This local shop offers bars, truffles and confections made with raw, organic chocolate. The Chocolate Conspiracy uses high-quality cacao beans, which don’t have to be roasted—so the nutritional integrity and the marvelous, rich chocolate flavor is preserved.

AJ, the chocolatier behind The Chocolate Conspiracy, has a background in holistic nutrition and is a certified Live Foods instructor. A passion for raw, vegan desserts led him to chocolate—and  the unique aspects of his company’s products go beyond the beans. Most of the chocolate bars are dairy-free, and varieties include blackberry ginger, wild spice and even Aphrodite’s Avidify, which contains herbs that have potential aphrodisiac effects.

A selection of truffles, chocolate bars and other decadent confections in gorgeous packaging are available at the shop. My favorite is the Tahini Cup—think  a chocolate peanut butter cup with an extra savory twist. And, of course, the chocolate-dipped fruit is heavenly.

Don’t skimp on Valentine’s Day this year; get the good stuff. And really, what does a gift of substandard chocolate say to the object of your affection?
