Taste of the Nation
On Sunday, Aug. 7, Taste of the Nation Utah, a benefit for Share Our Strength, will take place at Solitude Mountain Resort, raising critical funds needed to support efforts to end childhood hunger in Utah and across the nation. More than 40 of Utah’s best restaurants and chefs will be represented, including the always-popular Baker’s Dozen, which features more than 15 pastry chefs’ sweet creations. In addition to food, a variety of wines will be provided, generously supplied by Phoenix Wine & Spirits, Southern Odom Spirits West and Young’s Market. Taste of the Nation also includes a silent auction, live music and a live auction, which I will emcee. The event takes place from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., and ticket prices are $75 per person for advance general admission ($90 at the door), $125 for advance VIP tickets with reserved seating and $1,200 for a group VIP table for 10 people. New Thai
A new Thai restaurant opened recently in Midvale with a Buddhist ceremony that included chanting Buddhist monks and blessings and a ribbon cutting by Midvale mayor Joann Seghini. The restaurant is called Chabaar Beyond Thai and is located at 87 W. 7200 South in Midvale. Popular menu items include pad thai, lard nar, pad woon sen and Thai grilled steak. Payson Salmon Supper
Pam Ostermiller, owner of TriFecTa Design, has organized a bus trip to the 57th annual Payson Salmon Supper, where 4,500 pounds of fresh Alaskan salmon will be flown in and grilled in the Payson City Park over flaming fruitwood by local firemen. Trust me, this cookout is a blast. The Payson Salmon Supper takes place Aug. 5, and the bus will set sail to Payson from the TriFecTa parking lot (1940 S. 1100 East) at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person for dinner and the bus ride and can be purchased by calling Ostermiller at 801-916-0205.
