Open Streets, Beer, Blues & Brats

This weekend, celebrate 1.5 miles of vehicle-free streets in downtown Salt Lake City in support of eco-friendly transportation and local business as part of the Open Streets celebration. Also on the weekend, stop in for the Beers, Blues & Brats benefit concert to support the work of the low-income advocates at the Crossroads Urban Center. Later in the week, stop by the Salt Lake City Council to speak up about the city’s budget and a proposal to issue $58 million in bonds to help finance the Utah Performing Arts Center.

Saturday, May 4
This Saturday, bicyclists, rollerbladers and pedestrians will be taking back the heart of downtown from the motorists. Dust off your bicycle, ride the friendly streets and learn more about the efforts of Bike Utah to promote more eco-friendly modes of transport in Salt Lake City. Beers, Blues & Brats Benefit
Sunday, May 5
The Crossroads Urban Center has been a tireless champion of Utah’s most economically vulnerable residents since 1966. This weekend, raise a toast to the nonprofit’s good work and help it keep fighting the good fight at the annual Beers, Blues & Brats Benefit. For a $45 minimum donation, you can enjoy cold brews, brats, baked beans and coleslaw. Along with the great eats, you can also enjoy belly-dancing performances and music by The Number Ones. Salt Lake City Council
Tuesday, May 7
A big-dollar meeting of the Salt Lake City Council as a public hearing will allow citizens to discuss the coming fiscal-year budget proposal, as well as a proposal to fund the new Broadway-style Utah Performing Arts Center.
