Skiing, film festivals and spying on the home of Air Supply’s Graham Russell are not the only reasons to visit Summit County. The Summit County Fair is celebrating its 100th birthday Aug. 1-8. Events include a centennial quilt, limited-edition medallions, a mural unveiling and the county’s 95-yearsand-older residents serving as the fair’s grand marshals. The mural—created by Oakley artist Jan Perkins—is based on the fair’s first 100 years and will be presented on Aug. 1 at 5:30 p.m. Commemorative medallions, inspired by an original 1909 Summit County Fair medallion, will be available for purchase. Additionally, Summit County residents have donated blocks to the Loose Threads Quilt Guild, which created a centennial quilt that will hang at the fair’s art show. Parking will be restricted on the fairgrounds, but a shuttle service will be available at several locations.
