Step Forward to Cure TSC, Empty Bowls & Salt Lake City Planning Commission

This weekend you can brave the fickle spring elements and take part in a walk for the cure of tuberous sclerosis complex. Researchers believe a breakthrough on the debilitating disease could lead to developments in multiple other diseases. If the weather is more suitable for sipping, you can take part in the Empty Bowl soup event and enjoy a simple meal and gift bowl with benefits to help fight hunger. Later in the week, you can hear the Salt Lake City Planning Commission discuss the West Salt Lake Master Plan, and give your thoughts on how planners can best represent the west side.

Tuberous sclerosis complex may be a disease you’ve never heard of, but chances are you’ve heard of some of its many manifestations: epilepsy, autism, kidney disease, diabetes and even cancer. Researchers believe a breakthrough on TSC could mean equally important success with all these related diseases. So come learn more and take part in a walk to raise awareness and funding to combat this disease.

Empty Bowls

From emptiness comes form, or something like that … anyway, take part in the symbolism of fighting empty bowls and empty stomachs by attending the St. Vincent de Paul’s annual Empty Bowls dining event. Courtesy of Clay Arts Utah and Catholic Community Services, you can enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread and take home an artisan bowl with a suggested $15 donation going to help fight hunger among Utah’s homeless.
