Ben Rosch: Take shot of Bailey’s. With Bailey’s in your mouth, take shot of lime juice. Mix rapidly in mouth by shaking head vigorously. Swallow before it congeals totally. A disgusting shot called a “cement mixer.”

Steve Matney: I call it The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chelada, or simply, the church chelada. It’s Diet Coke with a bunch of limes and Clamato. Delish!

Jennifer Higgins: Lunchboxes! Take a medium-size glass, fill it halfway with beer. Fill another 1/4 of the glass with orange juice. Drop in an entire shot glass of amaretto and drink up! Sounds gross, tastes great!

Valeri Tronier: When I was 5 years old, I added red licorice to Pepsi and called it “cherry Pepsi.” My mom scolded me for wasting good licorice and Pepsi, but I was pretty sure I was a genius (PepsiCo felt the same way, apparently). After that I added milk to make “creamy Pepsi.” These days, I use whiskey.

Eric Peterson: I have just the fix for when you have an upset stomach but don’t want that to deter you from drinking. An ounce and a half of vodka, milk or cream, a little sugar and about three capfuls of Pepto-Bismol. Shake with ice. I call it “Sweet Medicine.”

Jennifer Nixon: Vodka tonic is my drink of choice, but the way I have it made is a little weird. I have to have about 10 slices of lime in the drink before it tastes good. Vodka, ruby-red grapefruit juice and about 10 limes is my second favorite. If my drink doesn’t dissolve my stomach lining, I’m not having any fun.

Stephen Dark: Since I love the salty rather than the sweet, I like to play with variations of a bullshot—vodka, meat stock, Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce. You can shake it till it’s Guinness-like or just let it flow over the rocks. Either way, it’s a delicious Sunday-morning buzz.

Jeff Reese: Interesting things come from a lack of mixers sometimes. My friend made us some drinks with Vodka, Vitamin water, Orange Juice and some other random fruit juice from the fridge the other day. It was better than I expected actually … Of course, anything goes with vodka.

Jeremiah Smith: Since I like my drinks golden and frosty, I am not sure that I have a favorite concotion. One thing that I really do love is chasing my beer with NyQuil. I find that those two together take all my cares away … well, at least they put a stop to insomnia.
