Somewhere in rumor-mill-land, word got out that angry gay protesters would besiege Mormons trying to enjoy some fine spring prophesy on LDS conference weekend April 14-15. In reality-land, however, the LGBT community is creating service projects this weekend, to which all are invited.

General Service Weekend
Saturday, April 11 & Sunday, April 12 (pushed back one week)

The LGBT community, through its All for One Initiative, has a smorgasbord of service opportunities lined up for anyone ready to shake off their winter apathy and get out and do some volunteering. Projects range from building a handicap-access ramp for the Weber Housing Authority, clean-ups at Salt Lake Valley parks and visiting refugee families to evaluate needs.

Blue Gold: World Water Wars
Monday, April 6

The Salt Lake Film Center is screening the documentary Blue Gold, one of those movies that will provoke the hell out of your thoughts about the water that covers two-thirds of our planet. The film examines how corporate water imperialism is setting up the oft-overlooked resource as a prize for which nations in the future may wage the next World War over. The film is free and open to the public—and it does not star Kevin Costner.
