Sesame Street hasn’t changed much in its 40-plus year run on public television. Most of the Muppets are still around, and a number of the original human cast members still smile for the camera—just a little grayer around the edges. What has changed is the real world we all live in—turned bit by bit into a multi-tiered entertainment universe of giggling plush dolls, video games and adventure movies.

Trying to keep pace, Sesame Street has a new venture in Elmo’s Green Thumb where they bring the daily workings of the famous urban street to life with Broadway style. The story follows Elmo and his best friends trying to find a permanent home for his sunflower Sunny in Big Bird’s beautiful garden. When the Muppets grow impatient waiting for Sunny to grow, they cast a spell to help, accidentally shrinking the lot of them into a merry miniature band in a world populated by giant butterflies, ladybugs and contentious beetles.
