It’s no fluke, folks. Four full seasons into their existence, the Salt City Derby Girls are still blasting away at stereotypes about dainty ladies’ participation in full-contact athletics. And blasting away at one another in the process.

The 2009 flat-track roller derby campaign kicks off in earnest with a battle between the Sisters of No Mercy and Leave It to Cleavers at the Salt Palace. It’s the start of a nine-bout season full of fast-flying, hot lady-skater action.

You say you don’t know a jammer from a pivot? There’s no better time than the present to learn. And in what other sport are you invited to join the teams in hoisting a brew after the event?

Sisters of No Mercy vs. Leave It to Cleavers @ Salt Palace, 100 S. West Temple, Saturday, March 28, 7 p.m. After-party @ South Shore Sports Bar & Grill, 2827 S. State. SLCDerby.com
