Friday, the Legislature will review proposals made by members of the public regarding redrawing the political boundaries of voting districts that will elect legislators, congressmen and local school-board members for the next decade. Weber Pathways Fiesta Fundraiser

Lovers of Weber County’s great outdoors and welcoming open spaces are encouraged to attend the eighth-annual T.G.I. Fiesta! on Friday to celebrate the work of Weber Pathways, a local nonprofit working to protect open space in the county. Those attending can win recreational gear in a silent auction and enjoy tasty hors d’oeuvres from The Oaks Restaurant and a delicious Mexican dinner from the Union Grill. Walmart Zoning Hearing
Tuesday, Aug. 23
A Walmart is looking to land in Salt Lake City at 2705 E. Parley’s Way. Company representatives have floated two petitions to amend zoning in the area to pave the way for a Walmart to be built at the site of a former Kmart at an expanded size that conflicts with current zoning. Come to the hearing and give your thumbs up to expanded low prices or recommend the city roll back the petitions and keep the Walmart consistent with the feel of the Parley's Way neighborhood. This article has been corrected from the print version that incorrectly implied the hearing would decide if a Walmart would open on Parley's Way. The Walmart is expected to open regardless, but the hearing is to decide whether a zoning change would be granted to allow Walmart to expand the construction of the store beyond beyond the current zoning conformities.
