Red Cross Gourmet Gala On Oct. 7, the American Red Cross of Utah will hold the first annual Autumn Gourmet Gala, hosted by Snowbasin Ski Resort. The participating restaurants are planning to showcase culinary specialties from around the world. Gourmands and corporate sponsors will enjoy an evening of food and activities, beginning with a chef tasting and silent auction, followed by a seated dessert and live auction full of valuable packages, including exclusive dining experiences, travel, jewelry and other specialty items donated by participating restaurants and businesses. Complimentary wine will be offered, as well as a signature drink presented by Ogden’s own Underground Distillery. The evening will take place in Earl’s Lodge at Snowbasin and showcase some of northern Utah’s premier restaurants, including Bistro 258, Corbin’s Grille, Davis Hospital, Jasoh, MacCool’s, Rickenbacker’s Bistro, Roosters Brewing Company, Snowbasin Ski Resort, Sonora Grill, Tona, Union Grill and Zucca Trattoria. “This event offers a chance for our community to come out and enjoy some extraordinary food, spirits and entertainment, and at the end of the night, know that they are playing a part in helping the American Red Cross,” says Pete Buttschardt, Roosters’ chef and owner. Tickets are $75 per person in advance. VIP tickets are also available for $125 and include an exclusive pre-event reception with participating chefs. Shabu on the Move Park City’s Shabu restaurant has closed, but only temporarily. According to brothers Kevin and Robert Valaika—Shabu’s owners—their restaurant is moving into new digs at 442 Main, which was formerly occupied by Bacchus Wine Bar. Although the new kitchen and dining room won’t be any bigger than the original Shabu in the Main Street Mall, Kevin Valaika, the chef, is excited about being able to build a kitchen to his exact specifications. The new Shabu will also feature a sushi bar and martini bar. Look for the all-new Shabu to open around Thanksgiving.
