Note the Difference

I have only one issue with “Queer Science” [Sept. 24, City Weekly], and it is this sentence: [Nordyke Mack] also considers her own story, and many others like hers, as proof that therapies to change a person’s sexual orientation can have some benefit.

I did not say such, though I can easily see how I could be construed as saying so. I do not believe that therapies to change orientation can have benefit. I do believe that therapies that support one in his or her desire not to act on their feelings are crucial. There is a stark difference to me, though it may seem subtle to the reader.
