Niman Ranch Dinners
On Tuesday, June 22, at the South Jordan location and Wednesday, June 23 at Foothill Village, MacCool’s Public House and Wasatch Meats will host unique dinners featuring Niman Ranch executive chef Andrew Hunter. Both dinners begin at 6:45 p.m. A Culinary Institute of America graduate and former vice president of culinary development for Wolfgang Puck, Chef Hunter works closely at Niman Ranch with Niman’s network of farmers and ranchers. For the “guest-chef visit” at MacCool’s, Hunter’s menu will include an appetizer of country ham and honey-cheddar biscuits with Beehive cheese; MacCool’s “Public Wedge” salad course; bacon-wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and Wasatch Full Suspension onion rings; and for dessert there’s a rhubarb-ginger crumble made with local rhubarb and Amano dark chocolate sauce. The cost for dinner—not including taxes, beverages or gratuity—is $39 per person. Reservations can be made through MacCool’s Facebook page or by calling the individual restaurant location. High West Awards
Congrats to David Perkins and the rest of Park City’s High West Distillery crew for winning a bundle of awards at the American Distilling Institute’s Best Craft American Whiskey competition in Louisville, Kentucky. In a blind tasting, judges evaluated 65 artisan whiskies. When the smoke cleared, High West’s Bourye won Best of Show as Best American Craft Whiskey. In addition, High West won top spots in three of 11 other categories: Rendezvous Rye won “Best Rye Whiskey,” High West Silver Whiskey tied for “Best Un-Aged Whiskey” and Bourye won in the “Best Blended Whiskey” category. “I am especially proud to have ... High West Silver Whiskey win an award,” said High West owner David Perkins. “Clear or un-aged whiskies are relatively unknown yet have become very popular because they are great in cocktails. Our Silver is particularly cocktail friendly because it’s made from oats, a very soft and vanilla-ish grain.” To learn more about High West, visit HighWest.com.
