When I first discovered this phenomenon, I was visiting from Indiana in 1987. I swear, I nearly had a brain aneurism. "My music" simply was NOT EVER played on radio air waves!! And, most certainly, NOT EVER in the Hoosier state from where I hail. I drove people around me crazy, having to be dialed in all day long no matter where I was for the next six years during every visit. My dad was living here and would tape the New Year's countdowns to send to me. Those tapes were like crack for me!!
Then, I finally moved here in November 1993. I didn't know anyone outside of family, so, being a fairly social person, I was lonely. It felt like I "knew" the DJ's already, so I gravitated towards them -- I called the station frequently and would show up to live promo spots. I would also see the personnel at DV8 a lot, both as DJ's and patrons. These people became my first SLC friends and I'll never forget that. They invited me into the studio even and I felt like family. I'm glad to still call them friends today. Thank you, Bill, Kerry, Andrea, Chet, Norm, Mister, and Todd for always being there with outstanding music and friendship for 22 years! Love ya'll bunches!
