It’s not quite like sitting on Santa’s lap, but if you’re a Salt Lake County resident, all you have to do is show up at County Mayor Peter Corroon’s office to get a chance for a one-on-one meeting where you can talk about whatever you want. Later, don’t miss a chance to learn about some proposed changes to Salt Lake City’s historic-landmark designations, and for a good last-minute gift idea, save a furry life by attending a holiday pet-adoption sale.

Mayor Corroon Open-Door Meetings

If you’ve been a good Salt Lake County boy or girl this year and have some county services you’d really like to see come through in 2012, then you won’t want to miss a chance to meet your jolly county mayor, Peter Corroon, in person. By showing up with an hour’s notice, you can meet with Corroon for a 10-minute one-on-one interview to talk about any subject you desire. Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 S. State, 801-468-2500, Dec. 15, 4-6 p.m., Mayor.SLCO.org

Historic Landmark Commission
Thursday, Dec. 15

The Historic Landmark Commission will again be going over plans to change the process for protecting the city’s historic treasures. New guideline changes will affect the review process for commercial historic buildings, and the residential guidelines will get their first update since 1999. Historic change doesn’t happen often, so make sure you’re a part of it. Salt Lake City & County Building, 451 S. State, 801-535-6189, Dec. 15, 5:30 p.m., SLCGov.com/CED/HLC
