The handle on the sausage grinder is whirling at a feverish pace, which must mean that the end of the Legislature’s General Session is coming to its conclusion. If you’re still looking to storm the Hill, it’s not too late to rally for the defeated sex-ed bill. Even if a specific issue isn’t grabbing you, the final days of the session always promise a flurry of 11th-hour bills that may light your lobbying fire. For a change of pace, check out the Salt Lake City Planning Commission meeting to learn about the new sports center and the North Temple Viaduct.

Saturday, March 6
When the Senate Education Committee refused to even debate a bill allowing for more comprehensive sex-education in Utah schools, it left many in attendance speechless … literally. Without debate, there was no public comment, much to the chagrin of people who had worked for months on the issue. If you have something to say on the subject, however, you can still join this march that will start at the Salt Lake City Main Library and end at the Capitol.

The trifecta of major city developments will be discussed at tonight’s Planning Commission meeting. Whether your issue is the proposed sports complex at 2223 North Rose Park Lane, the controversial Public Safety Complex between 400 and 500 South at 300 East, or the North Temple viaduct, there’s something for everybody.
