Living large in layton! If you decide to visit Layton’s Taste of India restaurant, you might want to book a night at one of the nearby hotels or inns in order to also give Kim Long restaurant a try. Located right next door to Taste of India, Kim Long specializes in authentic Vietnamese cuisine. In addition to traditional vermicelli-based dishes and rice platters, Kim Long serves some of the best pho I’ve encountered in Utah. There’s also a unique dining experience to be had, called nuong vi, which translates roughly as “griddle at your table.” The service is very friendly and helpful—oh, and while the homemade boba fruit drinks at Kim Long are awesome, there’s also beer, tea, lemonade and soft drinks. Kim Long is located in Layton at 1664 N. Woodland Park Drive, phone 801-779-9586.

Blog, blog, blog. Unfortunately, Leo Dirr compiled his list of Top 10 Utah Food Blogs before we launched the spiffy new City Weekly website. Otherwise, I’m certain that the CW Food & Drink blog would have been at the tippy-top. Still, kudos to Leo for rounding up some very informative, creative, entertaining and interesting Utah blogs for foodies. His top 10 includes Gastronomic SLC by Stuart Melling, Kalyn’s Kitchen (Kalyn Denny), John Thomas and Katie Schrier’s The Gourmand Syndrome, Holly Hanks’ Phemomenon, Jen Johnson’s Delightful Delicacies and She Craves by Vanessa Chang. See Leo’s list at UtahStories.com.

Mussel Power The Lodge Club Bistro at Snowbird Resort features all-you-can-eat Maine mussels for $8 per person, Sundays 4–6 p.m.

Quote of the week: Inhabitants of undeveloped nations and victims of natural disasters are the only people who have ever been happy to see soybeans.
