Ever since it became uber-trendy to go green and live eco-friendly, everyone and their dog dishes out advice on how best to do so. Admittedly, such unwarranted counsel is often picayune and/ or downright unfeasible. Well, rest assured, there is help on the way at this weekend’s Downtown Eco-Festival and Sustainability Fair.

Live Green is a gathering of people, ideas and institutions willing to help you get the most footprint-reducing mileage out of creatively manipulating your spending habits, changing your lifestyle and upgrading your business and household. Bringing together the likes of alternative transportation (think bio-diesel and electric scooters), local plant vendors, builders and architects with sustainable products and businesses is just the first step. When you add recycled art, live music, eco-activities for kids presented by The Leonardo, a repurposed fashion show and a zerowaste food and beer garden, the green party bus has officially been launched.

To top it off, community advocates such as John Norquist (president and CEO of the Congress of New Urbanism) and Doug Fine (author of Farewell, My Subaru, pictured) will be on hand delivering talks on how each and everyone of us can and should do everything within their power to make a difference—not to mention just how easy it all can be. Rounding out the experience will be the Sundance Institute presentation Fuel: The Film, a documentary about the world’s increasing addiction to oil and what we all can do to integrate alternative energy solutions.
