LGBT Therapy Needs Can Be Met

Thank you for bringing attention to the unmet needs of the LGBTQ community [5 Spot, Jan. 16, City Weekly]. Dozens of Utah therapists had the same concerns and joined together in 2003 to form the LGBTQ Affirmative Psychotherapists Guild of Utah, an organization of licensed mental-health professionals and students in training. We have more than 100 active members dedicated to providing therapy services to the LGBTQ community.

Our website, LGBTQTherapists.com, has an online directory, searchable by county and specialty, of licensed Utah therapists who are experienced with the LGBTQ community.

Coordinator, LGBTQ-Affirmative Psychotherapist Guild of Utah

Mr. Rasmuson, I enjoyed your column "Walk the Walk" [Dec. 18, City Weekly]. I found it very interesting.

Amid all the hullabaloo over location of a new prison, aren't we forgetting something really important? How successful can our prison be in rehabilitating offenders if we make it more difficult and costly for their families to visit?

I always enjoy City Weekly's Hits & Misses column, and this week's version [Dec. 4, City Weekly], was no exception. Unfortunately, the Rocky III segment, while a nice complement to John Saltas' piece ["Mayor Maybe"], is wildly inaccurate.
