This fine weather makes for a nice stroll, maybe in the park, maybe down to Library Square—which, as it turns out, may soon have a towering Public Safety complex jammed into it. That’s why Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker is hosting a public workshop on the proposed building site, the perfect opportunity to give the idea either a thumbs-up or the bird— metaphorically speaking, of course.

Civic Campus Master Plan
Saturday, May 30

Becker caught some backlash over a proposal to build a “Civic Campus” in the corner of Library Square, so this public workshop is the mayor’s chance to present the argument in clearer terms, win over detractors with presentations (and a continental breakfast!) and also take feedback. The workshop will include presentations from Mayor Becker, Police Chief Chris Burbank, Fire Chief Tom Shannon and others.

The War on Democracy
Saturday, May 30

At the west side’s beloved culture and coffee joint Mestizo Coffeehouse, you’ll not want to miss an opportunity to check out a free screening of the documentary The War on Democracy, a compelling and disturbing history of the legacy of the U.S. government’s interventionism and meddling in Latin America.
