Get off your arse and storm the Hill— or, at least, sit down at the Capitol cafeteria for an informative lunch with the League of Women Voters. Then, storm the other hill—up to the University of Utah—for a climate-change conference. Finally, consider the purpose of Black History Month with a panel discussion.

League of Women Voters of Utah Lunch at the Legislature
Tuesday, Feb. 16
Every Tuesday on Capitol Hill, the League of Women Voters of Utah holds an open-forum lunch. While dining, members discuss the various bills and issues they’re tracking, such as abortion, ethics, energy and environmentalquality bills. If you have questions or pertinent points about these issues or citizen lobbying at large, stop by for a lunchtime chat.

A Climate of Change Conference
Friday & Saturday, Feb. 12-13
Workshops for peace, social justice and a healthy planet will keep worldchangers busy for two days this weekend at the U. The conference, organized by Utah Jobs With Justice, will host several national speakers—from labor movement luminaries and health-care reform experts to carbon-cycle gurus— who will lecture and moderate discussions.

Black History Month Forum
Tuesday, Feb. 16
Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson and Martin Luther King Jr.—to name a few—have paved the way for equality. In 1976, Negro History Week evolved to Black History Month, largely due to the black power movement of the ’70s, to promote, preserve and research the culture’s tranformations and successes. Five panelists from Westminster College and the U will discuss the value of celebrating Black History Month.
Gore Auditorium, Westminster College, 1840 S. 1300 East, 7:30-8:45 p.m., 801-832-2600
