Insult Salt Lake City, Insult Me

Is it wrong that I felt insulted at Sanjiv Bhattacharya’s description of Salt Lake City? “Vast, vacant and alienating”? “Peopled only by missionary drones” [“First Person Plural,” Aug. 11, City Weekly]?

Ouch, Sanjiv, you must’ve only visited Salt Lake City on a Sunday morning between 8 and 9 a.m. Apparently, you weren’t here on a Thursday evening near Pioneer Park, and you must have missed all the Friday-night parties this weekend. You also must have completely missed the weekday grind of normal Americans going to and from work. You must not have been around the day we flocked to the Gallivan Center for Craft Lake City.

Such a limited perspective of our wonderful city makes one wonder what other garbage this man must be spouting in that small book of his.
