Utah’s freshman congressman Chris Stewart will be fielding questions from constituents in Salt Lake City this week. Stewart has recently made a name for himself in the House Science committee for questioning the credibility of climate-change research touted by the Environmental Protection Agency. Nevermind that the science used by the EPA comes from researchers at Harvard and BYU—science, schmience, right?

Independent Executive Branch Ethics Commission
Friday, Aug. 23
A new committee meets this week to act as an independent check against ethics violations in the state’s executive branch. Not that we have a problem with the executive branch, right? Oh, wait, unless you count the multiple ongoing state and federal investigations into Attorney General John Swallow. Come to the meeting and learn more about what this committee can—or can’t—do to keep the noses of state executives clean.

Sen. Mike Lee Davis County
Town Hall Meeting
Wednesday, Aug. 28
Sen. Mike Lee won’t be visiting Salt Lake County during the August recess, but Davis County residents can still meet and talk about issues like Lee’s call that Obamacare must be defunded or else conservatives will shut down the federal government. It’s a fun game of brinksmanship with little effect, as other Republicans have pointed out that even if a resolution passed to defund Obamacare, it would still require the president’s signature to pass.
