The Revolt listed a “brown” Earth Day event with the Sutherland Institute’s Earth Day festivities last week. But fear not, Earthlings and hippies. Here is a right proper Earth Day event for the more green at heart, plus a class on cooking with the heat of the sun and later at night, chilling with global consciousness.

Earth Day Festival Saturday, April 25 & Sunday, April 26
The Earth Jam nonprofit is holding a ginormous, free festival this weekend in Liberty Park. The event will jam in the park music, art, educational booths a killer lineup of local artists including Theta Naught, Jeremiah Maxey, Corey Mon and the Starlight Gospel (among many) and thousands of peeps all giving props to the Earth. The event promises to be good, green fun for the entire family, so come get your green on. Liberty Park, 589 E. 1300 South, April 25 & April 26, noon-9 p.m., EarthJam.org

Solar Cooking Workshop Saturday, April 25
The Wasatch Community Gardens is holding another class; this one is about cookin’ solar. Learn tips, techniques and recipes for solar cooking. The event is free to the public, but a $5 tip would be well appreciated for the sake of instructors. Don’t forget, though, you’ve got to register ahead of time to make sure you’ll have a seat. Sandy Community Garden, 500 E. Locust Street (8800 South), April 25, noon-1:30 p.m., RSVP at 801-359-2658 or educator@wasatchgardens.org

Night of Global Consciousness Saturday, April 25
For a look at how a little effort and compassion can play itself forward halfway across the world, stop by for the Opportunity Fund for Developing Countries slideshow this evening. The group will show photos and video from their recent humanitarian missions to rural Kenya. The event is a good meet-andgreet for the curious and idealists alike. And a great opportunity to learn more about overseas service opportunities. Wasatch Commons Co-housing, 1411 Utah St. (1605 West), April 25, 7 p.m., 801-487-9380, OFDC.org
