The 2010 City Weekly Music Awards Honor Roll

Your guide to the City Weekly Music Awards Top 30.

It’s going to take years before folks stop referring to the City Weekly Music Awards as the SLAMMys, but we’ll lead by example.

CWMA Showcase reviews in the Music Blog

City Weekly is proud to present the 2010 City Weekly Music Awards. This year's nominees were selected by a committee of local movers and shakers who are deeply invested in Utah bands. Their passion for homegrown sound is part business, all pleasure. Given the tremendous amount of talented acts in our backyard, narrowing down the field of potential nominees proved difficult as always. Judges ranked each act based on talent, professionalism and initiative (i.e., how often does the artist tour? Record?). The resulting Top 30 represent just a portion of the state's best, most promising musicians.

These artists will perform a series of SHOWCASES the first two weekends in February where audiences will vote for their favorites. You can vote online, at the shows and through text. The top three bands with the most votes will perform at the final closing show at The Depot on Feb. 20.

You can text your vote to 91010 using your favorite band's (KEY WORD). One text vote per number.

Record stores, record labels, recording engineers, journalists and other folks who live and breathe the Utah music scene helped select the CWMA Top 30 resulting in a wildly eclectic group of artists, from a 16-year-old Utah County wunderkind to salty downtown rock veterans and fashionably dressed electro-pop idols.
