Careening down Alta’s Baldy Chutes or just cruising the corduroy on a bluebird day at Deer Valley Resort, you can work up a mighty insatiable appetite. Thankfully, there is no shortage of outstanding dining destinations in and around our favorite ski and snowboard resorts. Here are five unsurpassable dining adventures to satisfy your most demanding culinary cravings.

Fireside Dining at Deer Valley Resort’s Empire Canyon Lodge feels like you’ve embarked on a feast in the European Alps. Dinner is served from the Lodge’s five stone fireplaces, and the all-you-can-devour experience runs the gamut from Swiss raclette, scrumptious stews, fire-roasted leg of lamb, cured meats and artisan cheeses to risotto, fresh-baked breads, a smorgasbord of pastries and the very popular dessert fondues. Add to that a superb wine and beer selection and horse-drawn sleigh rides available pre- or post-dinner, and you’ve got the one-of-a-kind fine-dining experience that only Deer Valley can offer. 2250 Deer Valley Drive South, Park City, 435-649-1000, DeerValley.com

St. Bernard’s restaurant in The Inn at Solitude Resort features first-class fare culled largely from local, artisan gourmet ingredients, cooked with precision and creativity by Executive Chef Michael Richey. Enveloped by the stunning views of Solitude’s mountain, as well as the charm of a toasty fireplace, meals at St. Bernard’s are always a memorable affair. Richey’s culinary specialties include dishes like tombo tuna with citrus olive relish, roasted quail with huckleberry pan sauce, and seared sea scallops bathed in curry buerre fondue. 12000 Big Cottonwood Canyon, Solitude, 801-534-1400, SkiSolitude.com

The Shallow Shaft restaurant in Alta has been pleasing customers for more than three decades now with its stunning views of the Wasatch Mountains and cuisine that is formidable enough to match them. Chef Kurtis Krause favors locally grown and produced ingredients in his kitchen, and he also supports the slow food/organic culinary movements. So, after a day of skiing Alta’s top-flight terrain, settle in at a cozy table for Shallow Shaft temptations such as king-crab-stuffed mushroom caps, smoked Utah trout cakes with apple-horseradish crème fraiche and salmon roe, seared Wagyu beef with morel pan sauce, wild salmon au poivre, or the tasty Kurobuta pork chop with spicy maple glaze and Honeyville grits. Wine specialist Peri Ermidis’ pairing suggestions combine to make every Shallow Shaft dinner a high-altitude home run. Highway 210, Little Cottonwood Canyon, Alta, 801-359-1078, Alta.com

The Farm at Canyons Resort has garnered so many accolades and awards since opening, they’re hard to count. Still, this restaurant just gets better and better, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients from artisan producers, all handled with aplomb by Executive Chef Zeke Wray. Service is nothing short of stellar, and signature dishes such as herbed rabbit and vegetable salad with shallot vinaigrette or Grass Valley steelhead trout with foraged mushrooms, local asparagus and parsley-infused goat milk will make your head spin. And the stunning cuisine is backed up by a first-rate wine list, as well as a terrific selection of beers, cocktails and other beverages. All this, and a warm, comfy ambiance, to boot! 4000 Canyons Resort Drive, Park City, 435-649-5400, CanyonsResort.com

The Aerie is Snowbird’s combination sushi bar, cocktail lounge and fine-dining restaurant that offers not just great resort dining, but some of the best cooking and décor that Utah has to offer. Perched atop Snowbird’s Cliff Lodge, the panoramic views are simply stunning. But then, so are the award-winning design and the food and drink, with options ranging from top-notch sushi and sashimi to kids dishes like chicken tenders and macaroni & cheese to elk cheesesteak sandwiches, pan-seared trout with preserved lemon and brown butter, and desserts like s’mores cheesecake and the delightful buttermilk panna cotta with strawberry-rhubarb “soup.” Oh yes, and there’s also the 1,000-plus bottle selection from The Aerie’s wine list, winner of Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence.
