Re: “Liquor, Weed and More

There are two marijuana rivers, one on each side of the state of Utah. One river has already surged past the banks and is overflowing far into the state. In the coming year, the other side will also be overflowing and spilling deep inside the state. There is no way to stop this flood that is happening but the law makers are doing nothing to address it. No one in Nevada will be shipping weed to California as it too has legal marijuana. Massive amounts of marijuana will be shipped through Utah to find its way into every neighborhood across the state.

Why not decriminalize marijuana? Why do you need to ruin the lives of citizens by issuing mandatory rehab for something that is legally distributed by states on both sides of Utah? Why do the citizens needs to have criminal records if caught with something that is legal to possess only a few miles from their homes?

It is hypocritical to not decriminalize marijuana when you allow mind altering drugs like alcohol to be sold in convenience stores across the state. The one major fact you need to be concerned with is marijuana has not killed anyone ever. Not one person has died from marijuana. You cannot say that about the alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, or sugar that is sold with no limits on how much a user can purchase. Anyone 21+ can purchase pure grain alcohol at the "state" owned liquor store and drink it to the point where they cannot function but smoking weed is frowned upon? One other item that is not being told to the citizens is a marijuana user can quit at any time and not see any ill side effects. There is no difference between quitting marijuana and quitting sugar. Sure you like candy bars and donuts but you don't "need" to have them. Assume a level of responsibility and accountability to the public and do what is morally right.

These law makers have their head in the sand over this issue when it is clear what needs to be done. Decriminalize and regulate the sale and distribution of legal marijuana.
