It might be true that there are no free lunches. But there are cheap lunches … and dinners. It’s that time of autumn again: time for the kick-off of the Fall Dine O’ Round. You should know the drill by now: No coupons, no punch cards and no strings attached, just good value. From Sept. 12–27, more than 30 of Salt Lake City’s premier restaurants will offer special Dine O’ Round pricing for lunches and dinners. A two-course lunch at participating restaurants is $10; three-course dinners are priced at either $15 or $30, depending upon the establishment. Here’s a hot tip: Metropolitan is about to begin serving lunch for the first time in its history, and you’ll be able to eat lunch during Dine O’ Round at the prestigious Metro for a mere $10. Holy smokes! Some new participating restaurants in this year’s Fall Dine O’ Round include I Love Sushi, Lazy Dog Pizzeria, Tucanos Brazilian Grill and Baxter’s American. For a full roster of participating restaurants and whether they’ll be serving lunch, dinner or both, visit DownTownSLC.com.n

After six years, Peddlers Restaurant on 25th Street in Ogden is closing its storefront business. That’s the bad news. The good news is that owner Arlan Gagestein and sous chef Curtis Connelly will continue their Peddlers catering business in Ogden. “A large portion of our business was through catering, and we want to focus on this area. We have loyal clientele that we would like to keep a relationship with and continue to provide exceptional food,” said Gagestein. Peddler’s specializes in healthy foods, including vegan, vegetarian and glucose-free menu selections. For further information phone 801-394-1912 or e-mail PeddlersCatering@hotmail.com.

I had an exceptional dinner the other night at Fresco. Stay tuned for more. But you might want to think about booking a table on the patio before weather turns cool again. 1513 S. 1500 East (FrescoItalianCafe.com)
